Subject Needs Analysis

Excellence In Teaching (EIT) is an innovative, professional development portal which aims to improve the quality of teaching and learning in English, Maths and Science and thereby maximise pupils’ progress and achievements across Key Stage 2.

The portal intention is to support all teachers to provide challenging, enriching and extending learning for all their pupils by enabling all teachers to identify any specific knowledge and confidence gaps in the three core subjects.

Subject Needs Analysis

Teachers self-assess their subject knowledge and confidence to teach up to, and exceeding, end of Year 6 expectations in the core subjects. Once completing each of the subject areas, the system gives you a percentage score for each of the subject elements. This enables the participant to identify any specific knowledge and confidence gaps through bespoke feedback that highlights areas of strength and/or aspects that are not secure. To support the later, each subject strand signposts professional development engagement through access to a range of online relevant resources and websites.

You do not have to complete all three subjects and/or individual elements at the same time. Once you have a log in, you can access the site at your own pace.

EIT is not intended to be used to assess teacher’s performance, or for use for appraisal. The needs assessment is strictly confidential to the individual teacher. The Headteacher only receives summary data on the strengths and required areas of support in the different strands of each subject across the school. This may support decisions to provide whole school training. If a teacher wishes to, they can share their full assessment outcome with their Headteacher by clicking an opt in share button which by they will email results to a specific email address whether it’s themselves or to their headteacher.
